TREATMENT

Laser Hair removal

Laser hair removal is the process of eliminating unwanted hair by using a concentrated light source, commonly known as a laser. The pigment in the cells absorbs the light, killing the hair. Hair growth can be successfully delayed for an extended period of time with laser technology. For full hair removal, laser hair removal typically requires six to eight treatments. After that, you can maintain your hair-free body for life with treatments administered once or twice a year. Anybody can use the new and enhanced lasers, regardless of skin tone, however individuals with light skin and hair benefit the most from their use.

Laser hair removal pros and cons

Lasers have been used for a very long time to remove unwanted hair from the face, arms, legs, waist, and other areas of the body. The only areas where shaving off unwanted hair can be challenging are the forehead and the surrounding skin.

Different laser hair removal technologies may work better or worse for different people depending on their skin type and color. One does not have to bother about shaving, waxing, plucking, or using other conventional methods of hair removal every two weeks.

The following are some additional advantages of laser hair removal:

Accuracy: Lasers can only target thick, dark hair, sparing the surrounding skin from damage.

Speed: Multiple hairs can be treated simultaneously by a single laser pulse. A large area can be treated by the laser per second. Larger areas like the back or thighs can take up to an hour to treat, but smaller areas like the upper lips or sidelocks can be done in as little as a minute.

Predictability: Most people have completely hair-free skin after four to six sessions.

Getting ready for laser hair removal

There are certain risks associated with precision laser hair removal, and it is something that requires training and experience. Make sure the physician performing the treatment is a laser specialist at all times.
Before the procedure, keep the following points in mind:

If you wish to use wax or pluck, you should wait at least five weeks before undergoing this procedure. This is necessary because the hair roots—which have been momentarily removed by waxing—are where the laser beam is directed.
Avoid the sun for at least five weeks before and following the treatment. The longer you remain in the sun, the more probable it is that you may experience issues.

Hair removal using lasers is a process.

Before starting the treatment, the area that will be treated is thoroughly cleaned.
Though not necessary, a numbing cream is applied. A freezing gel takes twenty to sixty minutes to work.
Throughout the procedure, everyone in the room wears safety eyewear.
It feels like a rubber band has been snapped when the laser beam touches the skin. All hair cells are destroyed by the laser’s heat. This produces little clouds of smoke with a Sulphur-like scent.
The size of the area in concern will determine how long the therapy takes. The laser may remove hair from the upper lips in less than a minute.

What can you expect from a laser hair removal procedure?

After laser hair removal, the area could appear red and swollen in the early hours.

The region being treated should be covered with ice to relieve any pain. As instructed by your physician, apply steroid cream to the affected area if you experience an allergic response soon after laser hair removal. These kinds of events are rare because every treatment begins with a patch test to check the skin’s response to laser heat.

After laser hair removal, people’s skin may become more sensitive to sun damage, and it is advised that they use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day.

Risks and Recovery

For two or three days following the procedure, the treated skin region will seem burned. Use a moisturiser to address this. After surgery, women have 24 hours to apply makeup. After a month, your hair will begin to come back. To prevent the darkening of your skin, use sunscreen every day. Additionally, adverse effects including scarring, edema, and redness are to be expected. Long-lasting skin color changes or scarring are unlikely to occur.

Different kinds of lasers

Laser Diode

It is effective on all types of skin. Most people have their hair chopped off permanently, and very few experience any pain during the procedure. As long as the user follows the recommended procedures, diode laser hair removal is a permanent procedure. Very seldom, hair that has been completely removed from an area of the body will grow back. A diode laser targets undesirable hair by emitting a light wave that is absorbed by melanin, the pigment that gives hair its color. The laser’s energy targets the hair shaft, killing it while sparing the surrounding skin. The most effective laser band for hair removal is the diode laser. You can remove hair from a variety of areas using a diode laser, including your face, neck, arms, abdomen, back, and legs. Additionally, delicate areas like the chest and bikini line can be treated with the diode laser.

Nd: YAG laser

It is a solid-state laser that generates light energy using a Nd:YAG (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) crystal rod. YAG lasers emit intense, high-energy light beams that simply and gently penetrate skin cell tissue to destroy hair. This process is known as selective photothermolysis of melanin. This process heats the hair cells without coming into contact with the surrounding skin. Many patients who receive Nd:YAG laser treatment report experiencing pain during the process. Following treatment, swelling, redness, and itching may occur and persist for a few days.
